What is CBD Isolate

by Dec 24, 2019CBD Isolate Education

CBD isolate is used to create all manor of CBD products from oils to topicals. But what exactly do we mean when we say isolate?

The Answer:

CBD isolate is pure CBD with a crystalline solid or powder form and is over 98-99% pure. In crystalline form, CBD is very versatile and can be consumed in several ways. There may be certain benefits to using pure CBD powder over other forms of CBD. All other cannabinoids and plant impurities are removed before preparing CBD isolate for consumption.

Learning more about CBD Isolate is well worth the effort, if you plan on using cannabis-based products for the long term.

Simply put, CBD Isolate is a chemical component derived from cannabis plants like hemp. It is touted as the purest form of cannabis, primarily because of the way manufacturers separate, (or isolate, hence the name) the CBD from the other components of the plant.

Leaving behind pure CBD Isolate all by itself, and because it no longer contains THC, CBD does not get the user high. This is good news for people who may be worried about THC content in hemp-derived products. CBD isolate offers them a way to still enjoy the potential therapeutic benefits of CBD without the other unwanted plant material and effects.

More info about CBD Isolate

Isolate is typically vaporized, or dabbed, on what is known as a traditional dabs rig. This pure compound will not create ash as there is no burning plant material. It is for this reason that CBD isolate is one of the most distinct and versatile forms of CBD available on the market today. If vaping pure CBD sounds better than smoking raw hemp flower then isolate could be the right product for you. Learn more about how to take CBD.

A traditional extraction process is used to remove all the active compounds of the cannabis plant, followed by a refinement process that further strips away all the other phytocannabinoids. Depending on this refinement process, the result will either be a large CBD crystals or a fine white powder that resembles sugar. CBD isolate should contain a distinct odor or taste, but this flavor can be altered with terpenes.

One can easily differentiate between CBD isolate powder and CBD crystals. Powder is broken down into small grains and differs in appearance from the pure crystalline form, in which the CBD crystals are thicker and larger.

CBD Isolate vs. Full Spectrum CBD

The main difference between these two forms of cannabidiol is that while CBD Isolate is extracted from cannabis plants as a standalone product with no additional compounds included, full spectrum CBD contains multiple chemical compounds, including trace amounts of THC.

While full spectrum CBD does contain an extremely small amount of THC (about 0.3%), CBD Isolate doesn’t have any THC.

Always discuss using CBD with your doctor before taking it or starting a CBD regiment. CBD can interact with certain medications, especially those that are metabolized in the liver.
