What is CBD Oil?

What is CBD Oil?

CBD Oil is a viscous liquid that contains concentrated extracts of cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical compound secreted by cannabis flowers.

CBD is the second most common cannabinoid out of the 113 that make up the genetic structure of hemp and cannabis plants. Oil concentrations change depending on the manufacturer’s intent and state sales laws. Some oil labels specialize the concentrations with terms like full spectrum or broad spectrum.

A full spectrum oil will contain all naturally occurring cannabinoids and terpenes present at the time of extraction. Broad spectrum oil’s make up changes depending on additives and carrier oils. Cannabidiol is also non-psychotropic.  Meaning, you will NOT experience the infamous, euphoric type of high that is associated with cannabis oils rich in THC.

How is CBD oil made?

The hemp plant is part of the cannabis sativa family generally chosen for CBD extraction because it produces high volumes of the cannabinoid. Hemp plants are also coincidently very low producers of THC. Plant quality selection is very important, the less processed the plant is the more its natural properties are preserved.

When CBD is sold in oil it is either pure extracted cannabis oil or isolated powder which is then often combined with a carrier oil like coconut or MCT. The extraction method for CBD varies significantly, and below is a short overview of the most common processes.

CO2 Extraction

This style of extraction uses “supercritical,” a state of combined semi-liquid and semi-gas, carbon dioxide to pull the plant’s phytochemicals. This supercritical state is ideal because it allows the carbon dioxide to move and dissolve plant material in both forms. The process generally follows this method using a specialized machine.

First, the carbon dioxide is prepared by rendering it with intense pressure and cold then raised to supercritical with heat. Then the CO^2 passes through the sourced cannabis plants and collects extracts. Last, this extract combination is exposed to low pressure which separates plant extract from the CO^2, which yields the finished cannabis oil.

This process tends to produce oil that is very safe for consumption if done in a sterile environment. It also is very exact in its manufacturing. As a vendor, it is important to be aware that this is a very expensive process and machine which requires advanced chemist expertise.

Solvent Extraction

This extraction method is very basic, it’s so simple it can be done even from home. Using a base solvent, the most popular being ethanol, harvested cannabis plants are exposed and left to stir and marinate. This time of marination allows the base to slowly dissolve the plant materials and bind with them.

ethanol What is CBD Oil?

This mixture is then drained and slowly turned over heat until the ethanol evaporates leaving the oil. Beyond being relatively straightforward, this production method is very cost-effective. The main concerns, however, are that a base like ethanol is very flammable and that overheating cannabinoids can denature them.

Dry Ice or Ice Water Method

This form of extraction creates a powder resin commonly referred known as “bubble hash.” This method has been improved upon and varied from expert to expert, but the steps are generally the same. First, the harvested cannabis plant pieces are finely cut and then added to ice (or dry ice).

Next, water is added and the mixture is sieved through micron mesh bags to weed out impurities and plant byproduct from the forming extract multiple times. Lastly, the water is drained and the product is left to dry. This process produces relatively large amounts of plant extract but is labor intensive.

Oil Extraction

This method of making CBD is becoming increasingly popular. It entails the use of carrier oil to extract CBD oil. Currently, olive oil is commonly used during the process. The method is becoming increasingly popular because of the added benefits of the olive oil nutrients and the fact that it eliminates the unwanted residues.

This technique’s results are different than the other mentioned extraction methods. The process will produce infused oil, not pure cannabis extract. Cooking oil, usually olive oil, is combined with the cannabis material being used and is warmed for hours then strained. The only drawback to this process is that the CBD will be consequently diluted.

What Does CBD Stand For In CBD Oil?

What Does CBD Stand For In CBD Oil?

CBD stands for cannabidiol, a naturally occurring chemical compound produced by     cannabis sativa plants.

The most common forms of cannabis sativa are marijuana and hemp. Cannabinoids are produced by these plants predominantly as a resin. There are many forms of cannabinoid, the most commonly discussed in the industry are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD).Other strains are also being isolated for sale because each affects the body’s endocannabinoid system differently.

Some like THC cause the feeling of euphoria or “high” that contributes to it being considered a drug. CBD lessens neurological pain and helps to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system to bring about a relaxed state. CBD oil itself also has many industry synonyms or nicknames, as well as, interesting but confusing terms associated with it like “full spectrum” and “broad spectrum.”

Industry synonyms or nicknames associated with CBD Oil

Cannabidiol oil, better known as CBD oil, has obtained several names over this past year and we’d like to bring all of these to your attention. You can expect to find any of these names below:

  • Hemp CBD-Rich Oil
  • CBD Infused Oil
  • CBD Hemp Oil
  • Pure CBD Oil
  • Gold CBD Oil
  • Industrial Hemp CBD Oil Extract

Now that the names have been verified, it’s important that you are aware of the hundreds of medical studies that have shown cannabinoids and CBD oil to potentially offer a wide variety of health benefits. We bold the word “potentially” because Cannabidiol is NOT to be considered a potentially relievement, NOR a cure for any condition or illness.

What is Full Spectrum CBD oil?

Full spectrum is a term associated with cannabidiol oil that has been minimally processed. A full spectrum oil will contain all the cannabinoids and terpenes naturally occurring in the plant at the time of extraction, they are not artificially removed. A full spectrum oil is widely recognized as the highest quality because of what is known as the entourage effect.

The entourage effect is where the other cannabinoids and terpenes present help the CBD be more potent and deliverable to the bodies receptors. While a commonly used term, a pure full spectrum oil is virtually impossible. All CBD oil products contain a carrier oil like coconut or MCT, which dilutes and changes the purity levels. While it is true the CBD extract is unadulterated, adding any other element will affect the makeup of the original.

What is Broad Spectrum CBD oil?

Broad spectrum means the purity levels of the CBD oil in terms of other cannabinoids and terpenes will fluctuate. It is possible that the extraction method, flavoring additive, or carrier oil has minimized or in some cases even removed a trace element that was present in the initial full spectrum hemp extract.

It is also possible that the oil has been combined with isolate to enhance the levels of CBD to be of a higher dose than what the initial extract contained. While it may sound strange, broad spectrum is actually the majority of oils on the market despite claims. Remember to substantiate a products claims through its certificate of authenticity and potency tests.

CBD & other cannabinoids, like THC, have shown promise in scientific studies to potentially help relieve symptoms from over fifty specific health conditions.

Hundreds of studies have been conducted on Cannabinoids, the Endocannabinoid System, Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in order to try a figure out if this organic plant can actually change the world.

Here is a brief summary for some of the health conditions CBD oil has shown to potentially aid in studies:

Reduction of Anxiety and Depression

The World Health Organization reports that depression is the single largest contribution to mental disability, while anxiety disorder is ranked sixth. Authors of a review from Neurotherapeutics found that CBD oil potentially helped to reduce the symptoms of anxiety and other similar disorders. The authors noted that current treatments for these disorders may lead to additional symptoms and side effects. No definitive evidence currently links CBD with adverse side effects. According to the review, CBD may help anxiety-related behaviors in people with conditions such as:

  • post-traumatic stress disorder
  • general anxiety disorder
  • panic disorder
  • social anxiety disorder
  • obsessive-compulsive disorder

Neuroprotective Properties

It is believed that CBD has the potential to act on the endocannabinoid system, and other brain signaling systems in ways that may be beneficial to patients with neurological disorders.

Sativex is an oral spray containing CBD and has been earmarked as a productive and safe way to reduce muscle spasticity in people with multiple sclerosis. Studies have shown that Sativex reduced spasms in 75 percent of 276 people with multiple sclerosis experiencing medication-resistant muscle spasticity.

Cancer Related Symptoms

CBD’s usefulness as an anti-inflammatory is a promising application. CBD may aid in the reduction of cancer-related symptoms and the side effects related to cancer medication. Authors of a review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology found potential evidence that CBD significantly helped to prevent the spread of cancer. The researchers noted that the compound tends to suppress the growth of cancer cells and promote their destruction.

Chronic Pain

Scientists have discovered that certain components of marijuana, including CBD, can potentially contribute to pain relief. The human body contains a specialized system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS) that regulates a variety of bodily functions including sleep, appetite, pain, and immune system response. The body produces endocannabinoids, neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system. Studies have shown that CBD may help reduce chronic pain by impacting endocannabinoid receptor activity, reducing inflammation and interacting with neurotransmitters.

How Does CBD Make You Feel?

CBD has been a mainstream topic for some time now. You might have noticed a plethora of discussions about CBD on the internet as of late. You may even have questions running through your own mind concerning CBD. Are you among those who want a natural alternative to treat an ongoing health condition or frustration? CBD or CBD oil has likely come to your attention, but what exactly is CBD, and how does it make a person feel?

First and foremost, the effects of CBD are said to be non-psychotropic. That is, CBD does not contain psychotropic qualities like some cannabinoids do, (particularly THC from marijuana). CBD is a new food supplement that is still undergoing research. While the initial results are promising, there are a lot of doubts, misinformation, misconceptions, and sheer confusions surrounding it. Recently, CBD has become an accepted means of relaxation, and the substance’s popularity is rising rapidly.

As the use of CBD is still very new, there are still significant gaps in what we know about the effects. While we can conclude that CBD is safe and legal, its exact benefits are still being debated, as well as researched.

For many decades cannabis plants have been stigmatized and painted with the red eyes of man. Therefore, it’s pertinent that we explain to our readers the truth about what CBD really is, in the simplest terms possible.

What is CBD?

CBD is a compound found in hemp, hops, and marijuana. It is non-psychotropic, which means it won’t cause intoxication when ingested. It has antioxidant, anti-anxiety, and anti-inflammatory properties. Studies are showing that it’s also anti-tumor, anti-tremor (for cases of epilepsy), and anti-psychotic. It seems unimaginable that one compound could possess so many healing qualities, but for many years CBD has been ignored because of cannabis’ association with recreational marijuana use.

These plants produce over 400 compounds, over sixty of which are unique to the plant and can be isolated for medicinal purposes. CBD is a cannabinoid which is found in the seeds, stalks, and flowers of the cannabis plant. It occurs naturally, and can be extracted independent of other cannabinoids, in oil form.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a phytocannabinoid, which was discovered in 1940. It is one of some 113 identified cannabinoids in cannabis plants and accounts for up to 40% of the plant’s extract. There are multifarious plants that fall into the cannabis family, or that can be classified as “cannabis sativa,” which means there are different sources and strains of CBD. Still, the top two are primarily hemp and marijuana. CBD can emerge from either marijuana flower or hemp leaves, depending on the source. CBD can be harvested from either plant with similar health benefits as well. However, where the oil comes from does determine whether it will be legal in a given state. There have been a plethora of debates and arguments that the CBD from marijuana is more active and powerful, perhaps due to the interaction between THC and CBD. Nevertheless, CBD derived from hemp leaves demonstrates proven medical benefits as well.

Sunrise Meditation How Does CBD Make You Feel?

The Formation of CBD

We can’t discuss the formation of CBD without explaining cannabis. There are several different strains of cannabis, some are intoxicating and contain large amounts of the substance THC that is responsible for causing marijuana users to get “high” when consumed.

Although CBD doesn’t get you “high”, like THC, there are still many stigmas about it. Unfortunately, many people tend to mistake CBD for THC. This misconception can be ascribed to lack of information and fear.

As was stated previously, CBD can either be extracted from hemp or marijuana. However, regardless of its source, CBD will remain the same. CBD is a chemical compound with specific characteristics, thus the compound itself will be the same regardless of which strain of cannabis it is extracted from.

It’s important to note that pure CBD and CBD oil are not the same thing. CBD oil is a mixture of various natural substances derived from cannabis. Hemp oil is produced by extracting the fatty acids from the stalks of the cannabis plant. Within these fatty acids, fat-soluble substances are found, and since cannabinoids are fat-soluble, they come out of the plant, dissolved in the oil.

How CBD Makes One Feel

There are several different kinds of cannabinoids, but even within phytocannabinoids, there are still a wide range of compounds and effects we are still trying to fully understand. Some of the cannabinoids share a strong interaction with one or both CB receptors in the brain. These receptors are known to cause various influences, from regulating mood and helping us concentrate, to causing euphoric effects like feeling “high” (from THC for instance). Other cannabinoids, like CBD, have fewer direct effects on the endocannabinoid system.

You Will Sleep Better

When you take a full dropper of CBD oil (around 30 mg of CBD) before bed, within roughly fifteen minutes you will feel a comforting, warm sense of calm wash over you, cascading down your body and running down your spine. To achieve this effect, many vendors recommend holding it under your tongue for thirty seconds, as this is the fastest way for your body to absorb the ingredients. Over the next half hour or so, you will become increasingly tired and proceed to fall fast asleep. Users also stated that they woke up feeling rested in a way that some other sleep supplements don’t allow.

Many CBD users reported a deeper feeling of calm compared to when they just took melatonin (which FWIW, a small study has shown). So, chances are you will love it as a regular part of your night-time routine.

CBD Increases the Ability to Focus

Studies have shown that people who took CBD moderately tended to have a better ability to focus when compared to those who did not. Many people report that they use it to focus better while at work. That’s likely due to CBD oil’s proven effects at relieving anxiety. When users aren’t as stressed, the result is a clear mind that’s better able to focus and cross things off the to-do list.

Speaking from my own personal experience, before trying CBD I often felt excessively anxious, especially when I had a lot going on at once. External stress often caused me to become restless, the result of which was decreased productivity.

However, after taking CBD regularly, it has allowed me to think more rationally about what’s on my plate, rather than worrying excessively about it. I can attest to the fact that taking CBD can help with people who suffer from anxiety and stress disorders.

It Reduces Sore Muscles

Studies show that taking CBD has anti-inflammatory benefits. Muscle pain is a type of inflammation that tends to affect many people across the world. This soreness might be related to occupation or lifestyle. Studies show people who tend to do physical work daily have a greater chance of being subject to muscle pain. CBD could be a great help to those that tend to be affected by sore muscles.

Readers should be aware that CBD can be taken in a variety of ways, because cannabidiol can be absorbed into the body in multiple ways. CBD can be taken traditionally by mouth, in edible or pill form. Other methods include inhalation of cannabis as smoke or vapor, or it can be absorbed through the cheek via an aerosol spray. Typically, the differences of these methods do not amount to a better result, ps potency is generally linked to the quality of the CBD a person is taking as opposed to the method in which they take it.

CBD also comes in a variety of forms. It may be provided as CBD oil, containing only CBD as the active ingredient (no included tetrahydrocannabinol [THC] or terpenes), as a full plant CBD-dominant hemp extract oil, in capsule form, as dried cannabis, or as a liquid prescription solution. CBD can also help the body repair itself in recovery mode. CBD is proven to help fight newly formed inflammation from strenuous exercise, and helps to allow a person to do it again the next day by alleviating stiffness and soreness in muscles.

After taking CBD regularly for two weeks, you may start to notice a difference in your overall health, wellness and beauty as CBD’s superstar power begins to take effect. Its calming and soothing properties are so effective, your sleep is almost guaranteed to improve as a result which in turn helps the body in numerous other ways.

How Does CBD Make You Feel?

CBD Reduces Pain Levels

Current studies show that almost half of the senior citizen population in the United States suffers from some form of arthritis, and 75 to 85 percent suffer from some form of chronic pain. Unfortunately, these problems are all too common for seniors living in the United States, but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Studies also show that CBD can reduce inflammation and kill pain from conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, and multiple sclerosis (MS). CBD activates receptors in the endocannabinoid system in the body, which has led some experts to believe that patients treated with CBD experience a “clinically significant reduction” in pain-related symptoms with little to no adverse side effects. Of course, results will vary from person to person based on factors like genetics, and the severity and nature of the pain. However, CBD is a natural alternative to traditional pain medications, and creates a compelling case for use by health care professionals and senior caregivers.

CBD Can Help Maintain a Healthy Heart & Circulatory System

Research from recent studies show that CBD may be an effective and natural treatment for high blood pressure. Studies carried out in 2017 treated ten men with one 600 mg dose of CBD and found that it reduced the resting blood pressure of the subjects.

In that same study, researchers also administered stress tests to determine the effects CBD had on the subject’s stress response. They found that the subjects exhibited a lower blood pressure increase than usual. In addition to reducing high blood pressure, some studies found that the antioxidant properties of CBD may help reduce cardiac inflammation and can deter cell death caused by oxidative stress. It might come as a surprise that CBD can be good for heart health, but the authenticity of these studies makes a compelling argument for this fact.

The researchers in charge of the survey believed that the results strongly suggest that CBD may have significant therapeutic potential in the treatment of diabetic complications, and perhaps even as a treatment for other cardiovascular disorders. By attenuating oxidative stress, inflammation, cell death, and fibrosis, as well as by reducing blood pressure, CBD can greatly improve the heart’s overall well-being and serve as a great preventive measure against serious and chronic health conditions.

CBD Can Alleviate Mood-Related Disorder

Emotional responses like mood swings can be attributed to the decline of health, disabilities, or the loss of a loved one. When these issues are prolonged or left unattended to, they can even lead to physical health problems. Often times, especially if an individual is prone to mental illness, their health can suffer due to negative behavior as a result of feeling disconnected, neglected, isolated, or lonely.

Many studies have shown CBD can remedy this condition: CBD can reduce stress, calm the mind, and improve cognitive functionality. These three things combined can significantly contribute to how a person’s mind perceives things. It can also have a noticeable impact on mood and behavior.

CBD Can Fight Addiction

Studies show that CBD not only helps to alleviate numerous health conditions, but it can also help to combat dependency developed from using medications or other drugs.

A 2018 study revealed CBD could help combat addiction by preventing relapses. The study found that administering CBD once a day for seven days in addictive patients caused them to not relapse for five months.

Recent surveys show that the rate of consumers using CBD is growing. As a result of its popularity in recent years, CBD has created a plethora of questions for those intending to try it for the first time. That said, if you’re nervous about trying CBD, that’s normal given the circumstances surrounding cannabis. However, one should consider that this seemingly miraculous, all natural supplement has been kept from us for about a century. We’ve been told that it’s bad for the body, but modern times show us that we cannot simply believe everything we are told. We do believe however, if you decide to try CBD, you’re going to see for yourself just how amazing this product can be.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Many small-scale studies have looked into the safety of CBD in adults. They concluded that adults tend to tolerate a wide range of doses well. Though CBD is generally well tolerated and considered safe, it may cause adverse reactions in some people. The most common side effect was fatigue. Also, some people reported diarrhea and changes in appetite or weight. Researchers have found no significant side effects on the central nervous system, the vital signs, or mood, even among people who used high dosages.

Potential Interactions With Other Medications

Before you start using CBD oil, discuss it with your doctor to ensure your safety and avoid potentially harmful interactions. Some studies on CBD have raised concerns about possible interactions with other drugs. CBD is known to interact with several medications.

For example, epilepsy studies found that there were increases in the blood levels of some other anti-epileptic drugs when people were on CBD. This could mean that people taking anti-epilepsy drugs alongside CBD will need to adjust their dosage downward to avoid side effects. People interested in CBD should seek out a doctor who has read up on the extract and its potential uses.

Cannabis Tincture How to Make a CBD Tincture from Home

How to Make a CBD Tincture from Home

A CBD tincture is a dietary supplement that comes in liquid form and contains a powerful cannabidiol substance. Tinctures are made by soaking CBD-rich hemp blooms in high-proof grain liquor, then cooking them over minimal heat for several hours. Vinegar or glycerine can be utilized instead of alcohol, but liquor truly does produce a superior quality tincture.

It is a time-consuming process, but straightforward. Once the fluid is prepared, it’s commonly blended with a sweet tasting carrier oil like orange or peppermint. The reason for this being hemp on its own, it can be exceptionally pungent. The ultimate result ought to be reliable, with a high CBD proportion and no more than 0.3% THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol).

When shopping, make sure you are getting a true CBD tincture. There is a massive difference between a CBD tincture and a cannabis tincture, which has all the cannabinoids content, including THC. A CBD tincture will not be psychotropic, meaning it won’t get you intoxicated.

CBD oil tinctures have zero psychotropic effects, but are still a mind-blowing modern alternative to addictive prescription medications. CBD has little to no side effects, with only a small percentage of users claiming to have less energy. Prescription drugs, on the other hand, often have a laundry list of side effects, some of which can be life threatening.

CBD products offer hundreds of thousands of Americans effective relief from several ailments without negative side effects. This makes their use ideal for children, seniors, or anybody who needs the therapeutic benefits of cannabis without the related high.

Since tinctures are concentrated, it’s generally advised to take them in minimal doses. Most come with a handy, built-in, mL dropper. Taking too much won’t cause an overdose, in fact no overdoses have ever been reported, but tremendous doses are often unnecessary for most therapeutic CBD users.

Many patients can’t get past the intensity of the flavor, so they often blend it with food or refreshments. It is included in many common soups, salads, coffees, and teas. Some take it underneath their tongue. Scientific research proposes that substances taken sublingually are absorbed more quickly by the body compared to other oral methods.

When dosing with a CBD tincture, ensure that you hold the tincture beneath your tongue for a moment to permit it to absorb into your body before attempting to swallow the rest. The membrane beneath your tongue allows for absorption by your sublingual artery. From there, it will travel throughout the rest of the endocannabinoid system. This is a great, smoke free way, to enjoy the benefits of CBD.

Types of CBD

As the CBD oil showcase proceeds to develop, new items are increasingly being sold online or in your local health food stores. You’ll be able to discover numerous sorts of CBD products, all of which used distinctively. Of course, it’s very important consult your healthcare professional prior to using CBD, and read and follow all label directions.

The most common forms of CBD accessible include the following:

Tinctures: Tinctures are a popular way to utilize CBD, since you’ll likely be able to better gauge precisely how much cannabidiol you’re ingesting or need to find relief. With a tincture, you utilize a dropper and put the drops beneath your tongue. Now and then, manufacturers will use carrier oils, natural flavours, or fatty oils in their tinctures.

Oils: CBD oils are one of the most natural forms of cannabidiol. CBD oil is extracted directly from the flowers, stalks, and seeds of the hemp plant. The foremost viable CBD oils are full range, which suggests that they incorporate all compounds found naturally within the plant. This includes all the cannabinoids (with trace sums of THC), terpenes and organic oils. You’ll discover CBD oils in a bottle with a dropper. This permits you to ingest the oil by putting it beneath your tongue, letting it sit for almost 15 seconds and swallowing it after.

Edibles: CBD edibles include chocolates, coffees, baked products, gums, and candies containing the compound. People generally love these items regardless of their CBD content, so it should come as no surprise that they are becoming popular. Even though this may be a fulfilling way to utilize CBD oil, it can be more difficult to measure precisely how much CBD you’re ingesting, and thus outcomes may be inconsistent.

Concentrates: Like tinctures, CBD concentrates are ingested by putting drops beneath your tongue. However, concentrates generally contain much more concentrated forms of CBD. The high potency isn’t usually necessary for beginners who ought to start with smaller amounts first, to gauge how they will react.

Powders: CBD powders are another way to utilize cannabidiol. The powder can be included in water, juice, tea, or a smoothie. The most outstanding quality CBD powders will not incorporate fillers, but only natural plant compounds.

Topical solutions: Topical CBD items incorporate moisturisers, salves, and lip balms. They are intended to benefit the skin, joints, and muscles. They work when they are absorbed into the skin and pass through the dermal layers. CBD patches are generally more effective for the topical conveyance of the compound.

Capsules: Like several other sorts of medication, CBD capsules or pills can be taken with water. Therefore, they can be a faster and more convenient way to utilize CBD. They do limit the dose a person can take to specific amounts, but ordinarily, capsules will contain 10–25 milligrams of CBD.

Sprays: Sprays are another option for utilizing CBD. The CBD concentration is usually lower in sprays. Examine the name for the correct dose, but often, you spray the solution into your mouth 2–3 times.

Vape Oil: CBD vape oil is designed for people who want to inhale CBD in vapor form. It employs the use of an e-cigarette, also called a vape pen, which heats the CBD to high temperatures converting it into vapor. There are also CBD waxes that are utilized by touching the cannabis compound to a high heat source. However, this method isn’t suggested for beginners, as it’s usually a higher concentration of CBD, and requires some hardware.

How to Make CBD Tincture:

Ingredients

  • 1/8 ounces of a high portion CBD strain

  • 2 ounces of strong alcohol preferably Everclear, Rum or Vodka

  • Two jars

  • 1-2 filters

  • Syringe/Eye dropper

PROCESS

The CBD tincture has various recipes, but the first recipe we are providing is called the Traditional Green Dragon Tincture Recipe

  • To convert the dormant THC-A and CBD-A to the active THC and CBD, you must decarboxylate the plant material. To do this, you must put your crude cannabis in a secured casserole dish and heat it at 245˚F for 90 minutes. The plant material will obscure and effortlessly crumble.

  • Place the crumbled (but not powdered) decarbed cannabis into one of your containers with the liquor and leave it for three hours.

  • When three hours are over, shake the fluid for 1-3 minutes, and after that, use the filter to drain the liquid into the clean jar. Wash out the first jar, and then drain the fluid all over again.

  • Store the tincture inside the jar, and put it in a cool, dim place for a week before making use of it. Ensure your jar is burped once a day amid the sitting week to let out the dissipated alcohol. To consume the tincture, make use of an eyedropper or syringe and administer a little amount of the fluid at a time.

The second recipe is known as The Modern Green Dragon Tincture Recipe

  • As the name implies, it’s a new recipe that has discovered to be based on developments in online recipes.

  • Decarboxylate the extract and if you’re making use of the flower, make its ground into an excellent consistency

  • Put your extract or flower into a jar and add the liquor/alcohol and mix

  • Shake vigorously for 3-4 minutes

  • Strain the content and store in a cool place.

CBD TINCTURE WITH COCONUT OIL

Any vegetable oil can be utilized as a base, but coconut oil has the most elevated amounts of fatty acid. This acid binds with the cannabinoids the best. It is additionally used in cooking, and can be put away as a hash solid for other uses like moisturisers, or to include in capsules for simple consumption.

Equipment

  • Double evaporator or a large pot and a smaller pot will suffice

  • Cheesecloth

  • Jar or holder for storage

Ingredients

  • A cup of coconut oil

  • A cup of cannabis

Instructions

  • Grind the bud, stems, or trim into small lots.

  • Add both cannabis and coconut oil to the two-fold boiler.

  • Heat for 6-8 hours blending once in a while and including small water in case required. (This will be the decarboxylation process).

  • Drain and strain your oil with the use of a cheesecloth after cooling.

  • Put it in a jar.

  • The tincture is expected to last for two months or longer from when it’s refrigerated.

CBD GLYCERINE TINCTURE

In case you do not want to use alcohol, a CBD tincture using glycerine will work. Glycerin is a chemical that’s secure to consume and is utilized to assimilate and lock in the fluid. It contains a sweet flavor, so it is perfect for cannabis syrup as well.

This makes it an incredible component for extricating CBD cannabinoids from a cannabis plant. This sort of tincture can treat a few illnesses like seizures, uneasiness, and extreme pain.

Equipment

  • 1-quart mason jar

  • Cheesecloth

  • Grinder or food processor

  • Brown or dull glass eye dropper

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce of CBD cannabis

  • 8-ounce bottle of glycerin

Instructions

  • Grind the CBD bud to a powder by making use of a processor or grinder.

  • Place the weed and sufficient glycerin to nearly the top of the mason container.

  • Put the jar close to a light source (natural).

  • Let it sit for 4-5 weeks, shaking it once a day to discharge the cannabinoids.

  • Strain the blend by making use of a cheesecloth.

  • Pour the tincture in an eye dropper.

  • Keep it refrigerated for best results.

Herbal Tinctures How to Make a CBD Tincture from Home

HEALTH BENEFITS OF CBD TINCTURE

CBD has anti-anxiety properties. Social anxiety disorder (SAD) actuates intense feelings of fear, uneasiness, self-doubt, and mortification in reaction to ordinary day by day exercises such as replying on the phone or talking to a stranger. SAD affects roughly 15 million—6.8%—Americans who often deal with the symptoms of the mental condition for a long time, before looking for proficient treatment.

The research found that CBD helped diminish symptoms in patients with Social anxiety disorder. Whereas THC paves the way for psychotropic effects in consumers. CBD works to relieve those effects and calm consumers.

CBD consumption before public speaking diminished anxiety and negative self-evaluation in social anxiety disorder patients. This illustrates its use as a practical therapeutic alternative to pharmaceutical drugs. Pharmaceuticals were reported to have led to only 30% of SAD patients making a full recovery, but also included a host of side effects.

CBD also decreases nausea which mainly results from chemotherapy. Nausea and vomiting are one of the many adverse reactions to chemo. There is proof that both THC and CBD interactions with the endocannabinoid system can control that severely uncomfortable, and in some cases weakening, side effect. CBD actuates somatodendritic 5-HT receptors within the dorsal raphe core, receptors known for their antiemetic (anti-nausea) effects.

In addition to these benefits, research on CBD emphatically recommends that it’s consumption helps to diminish sleeping disorders, epilepsy, certain irritations, prion amassing, and also the progression of diabetes.

It also stifles the enlargement of cancerous cells in the breast. ID-1 gene, a protein which is actuated during embryonic improvement but closed off a while later, plays a significant part in developing malignant cancerous cells in the breast.

A study in 2007 showed that CBD could decrease ID-1 expression, stifling forceful tumor development. This research represents the plausibility of moving away from harmful and excruciating chemotherapy toward the non-toxic treatment CBD offers.

CBD tinctures can be utilized to supplement anything that would be supplemented with standard CBD oil. Since the tincture is concentrated, it’ll have the same impacts, but you’ll only need to use a little dosage.

Tinctures, and CBD, in common, can be utilized to supplement a solid way of life, as well as bolster the management of different conditions — although you always need to consult a therapeutic professional. CBD is being explored as a solid anti-inflammatory and sterile compound.

Tinctures can have a few major viable focal points as well. For example, tinctures are simple to consume discreetly throughout the day, since they require no prep work and don’t have to be smoked or vaporized. The dropper bottles themselves are tiny and simple to conceal. It’s high concentration provides additional comfort. Since only little amounts are required, it’s simple to alter your day by day dosage with precision.

In a nutshell, CBD, or cannabidiol, is the second most inexhaustible component of the cannabis plant species. CBD interacts with receptors within the endocannabinoid system to benefit multiple systems of the body, including the central nervous system.

Home-made tinctures are proven to be more hygienic and organic to avoid ingesting pesticides and other harmful chemicals that can lead to unwanted side effects. Certain parts of plants can be detrimental and destructive to people when used topically or ingested. An individual ought to completely understand which parts of a plant are safe before attempting to make their own tinctures.

Copaiba vs CBD: Know The Difference

Copaiba Tree Copaiba vs CBD: Know The Difference

The Difference Between Copaiba and CBD

You may have heard of debates concerning CBD and copaiba, usually based on which one is the better of the two. Copaiba is very popular among aromatherapy enthusiasts. Some people say that CBD is more potent and active than copaiba, while others believe the opposite.

In this article, I will be sharing with you the analysis of each product and how they work. It’s no longer news that the CBD and copaiba have been getting a lot of attention in recent years.

These two oils contain the same anti-inflammatory properties, which is why they are often lumped in with one another. However, it is assumed at the onset: copaiba is not a CBD oil replacement, even if it is marketed as such.

It has some beneficial properties, but in most articles, it’s not yet clear how those compare to the benefits of CBD oil.

CBD and Copaiba: The Origin

It’s pertinent that we note that CBD is derived from either hemp or marijuana. You might have read somewhere that the CBD from marijuana is more active than CBD from hemp, but that isn’t necessarily true. On the chemical level, CBD is CBD, it has the same chemical structure whether it comes from one source or another. The main difference is the THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, content from marijuana. Sometimes for legal reasons or otherwise, a person may want the hemp version, which is full spectrum and non-psychotropic in nature. This won’t make the consumer feel ‘high’ because it contains less than 0.3 percent of THC.

There is also another type of CBD product that only contains only pure CBD. It’s called CBD isolate. Copaiba oil, is mainly extracted from the thick dark brown resin that slowly passes through the cracks of the copaifera tree.

The hype and popularity of this oil came about in recent times. Therefore, researchers have thus far only been able to conduct a few studies on it. The few studies that there are show that copaiba oil is said to contain antibacterial and anti-inflammatory qualities just like CBD does.

Copaifera Tree Copaiba vs CBD: Know The Difference

What is Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP)?

BCP oils are known for their strong smell. They also contain terpenes, that are responsible for the fragrances often found in essential oils. Even though copaiba oil is rich in some terpenes, copaiba oil only has a faint smell.

People who claim that copaiba is better than CBD oil only focus on Beta-caryophyllene (BCP), which is actually a part of both CBD oil and copaiba oil. Beta-caryophyllene is a terpene. Terpenes are aromatic organic compounds, in other words, they smell. BCP exists in clove, rosemary, melissa, and other essential oils. It is of interest to note that clove oil is often touted to help dental issues, and is often used by many mainstream dental practitioners to help with dental discomfort, including sore gums.

CBD and Copaiba: Risk

CBD and copaiba are both relatively mild. However, there are some minor side effects that are generally experienced only by a small number of users. These include nausea and exhaustion. Still, it’s important to talk to your doctor if you plan to begin a CBD regiment. Be cautious when taking CBD with prescription medicine. CBD can hamper or halt CYP enzymes in the liver. Grapefruit also hampers these same enzymes.

Just be sure to consult your doctor or physician before using any CBD products. They still serve as a great therapeutic aid for arthritis, inflammation, mood disorders, and pain relief; CBD is also said to be effective against the growth of cancer cells.

CBD Oil and Copaiba: Therapeutic Molecules

While CBD contains dozens of therapeutic molecules, copaiba oil only has one, which is beta-caryophyllene. CBD also shares this same terpene. To understand the distinction between these two products, it’s of great necessity that we know the function of phytocannabinoids and terpenes.

According to a study that intended to understand the properties of cannabis done in the early nineties. Our bodies naturally produce cannabinoids that bind to different receptors in the body. The receptors work to balance our body’s internal conditions. So, when your mind and body feel disconnected, these receptors and cannabinoids can help correct that feeling.

Our health declines if these receptors aren’t being activated.

Copaiba Oil Copaiba vs CBD: Know The Difference

CBD and Copaiba: Which is Cheaper?

If we compare the prices of these two products, copaiba seems cheaper than CBD in general, but cheaper doesn’t necessarily mean better. If a product doesn’t work, or requires a large amount to have any effect, it could end up being more expensive in the long run. So far, we haven’t seen many benefits from using copaiba oil, but this is at least partly due to a lack of proper research conducted on this product. On the other hand, many people report the benefit from very a small amount of CBD oil.

Copaiba is not as Safe as CBD

There is always some amount of risk associated with using any supplement, be it natural or otherwise. However, the side effects of CBD are so mild, or absent altogether that it’s generally regarded as safe to use.

There is no specific maximum dosage for CBD oil. Some people use way more than 1,000 mg of CBD oil per day. Copaiba, on the other hand, is a unique essential oil. While it is safe to ingest copaiba in low doses, typically ingesting essential oils is ill-advised. Unfortunately, it also has a robust taste, and it’s only recommended for consumption via capsules no more than three times a day.

However, ingesting too much copaiba oil can reportedly trigger nausea, vomiting, and gastrointestinal distress, an experience similar to food poisoning. In one animal study on rats with colitis, the researchers noted: “Copaiba oil decreased oxidative stress and inflammation but did not prevent intestinal damage in the colon of colitic rats.”

The alterations of plasma markers from hepatic damage caused by the oil seem to be associated with its destructive action on the liver. So, it appears that copaiba could, in fact, be damaging to the liver. However, this assumption still needs more research in clinical studies before an absolute conclusion can be drawn.

This could be the reason why copaiba is most often used for external applications, such as in skin creams and massage oils. It’s a reaction when taken internally tends to be very critical to the liver specifically.

In Conclusion

It’s of the utmost importance that we note that these two products are potent and active, and should not be used without proper recommendation from a physician. However, at this point, it has more or less been revealed that cannabidiol has much broader applications across a wide range of health issues than copaiba. Research has shown, and still shows to this day that CBD benefits many conditions; from fighting cancer to reducing social anxiety and much more, CBD appears to be the clear winner here.

Plus, as mentioned, CBD is safe to use even in high doses. (That said, don’t take high CBD doses without the knowledge of your doctor if you are taking prescriptions for a severe or chronic health condition. It is possible CBD could cause a negative drug interaction that your doctor should be aware of.)

Nobody denies that the beta-caryophyllene found in copaiba is a potent anti-inflammatory agent, but its overall capabilities right now pale in comparison to those of CBD oil.

As a final note, when buying a CBD product, it is best to choose the full spectrum oil if you are suffering from inflammation. CBD isolate seems to offer less action in this area. CBD tends to work better with a comprehensive profile of cannabinoids and terpenes, which is what a full spectrum CBD product.

Why Use Fresh Thyme in CBD Oil?

Fresh Thyme Why Use Fresh Thyme in CBD Oil?

Why Use Fresh Thyme in CBD Oil?

Until recently, CBD was relatively unknown, but with the emergence of CBD products into the mainstream, discussion about the product is causing the market to grow. For those who are unfamiliar with the words “CBD Oil,” it simply means cannabidiol oil. Cannabidiol is a natural, medicinal bi-product, or derivative of cannabis (marijuana or hemp). This should come as no surprise, as many medicinal drugs are already derived naturally from plants. Since the dawn of human kind, we’ve always turned to nature for live-giving sustainability. Natural, organic foods are some of the healthiest you can eat, so why would natural medicines be any different? Nature has gifted man throughout the centuries through various discoveries, and CBD oil may just be the next big thing.

Tetrahydrocannabinol, popularly known as THC, is a compound present in marijuana which is responsible for the effect of feeling “high” that people commonly associate with cannabis. CBD oil is deficient in this compound, which makes CBD oil the best option for someone seeking the health benefits of cannabis without undesirable psychoactive effects. The absence of psychotropic qualities in CBD makes it unique. CBD has served as a reliable treatment for mood disorders, pain relief, anxiety disorders, and other ailments.

CBD is a safe, non-addictive substance. CBD is one of more than a hundred “phytocannabinoids” which are unique to cannabis, and endow the plant with its robust therapeutic profile. As the mainstream use of CBD is still relatively new, there are still some gaps in what we know regarding its overall effects. Though we can conclude that the substance is safe and legal, its exact benefits are still being debated and researched. Below we will review some of the known benefits of CBD.

CBD and Thyme Why Use Fresh Thyme in CBD Oil?

Benefits of CBD Oil

Many benefits can be derived from CBD, and they include the following:

  1. CBD helps to naturally and effectively treat illnesses such as high blood pressure which are related to stroke, heart attack, and metabolic syndrome

  2. Its anti-psychotic properties help to treat and reduce the symptoms of mental illness including mental disorders like schizophrenia

  3. It helps to prevent and control diabetes

  4. It is used for the treatment of psychological disorders like depression and anxiety.

  5. CBD oil helps to promote sleep. (The oldest man on Earth, who died recently, attributed his old age to long-lasting good sleep of roughly eleven hours a night. He claimed to always be asleep by 7 pm at the latest.)

  6. CBD oil works as a skin treatment. Recent studies show that CBD oil helps in the treatment of acne due to its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to reduce sebum production in the body.

Though more studies are necessary, CBD is also being investigated for its role in treating several other health issues, not just those outlined above.

CBD can be used in many different ways, including vaping, tinctures, capsules, and edibles. Because of this, CBD has become very popular for those seeking a natural alternative to treat health conditions such as chronic pain, multiple sclerosis, PTSD, epilepsy, and other mental disorders. At first, many were skeptical because of the stigma surrounding cannabis as a recreational drug. Many people have a hard time believing that a natural compound, let alone a cannabis-derived compound, could effectively treat such a wide range of conditions. However, as medical researchers and scientists have learned more, and the stories from tens of thousands of people began to stack up, the truth was undeniable, CBD works.

Thyme Why Use Fresh Thyme in CBD Oil?

So Why Thyme?

Thyme is a Mediterranean plant with dietary, medicinal, and ornamental uses. Partially like the palm tree, the flowers, leaves, and oil of thyme are incredibly beneficial and useful in the treatment of certain symptoms. Perhaps you’re wondering how thyme is beneficial to the body. Here are some reasons you can trust thyme to be not only a spicy ingredient in your food, but also a health-friendly ingredient:

1. Seasoning: Growing up in a house where spicy food was often on the menu helps me appreciate the use of thyme and curry in cooking. Most notably in the cooking of meats, and fried or jollof rice. Most people would agree that the aroma from such food is satisfying to the nose. There’s a good reason almost all of the caterers I know use thyme in their food for that delicious, spicy smell and flavor.

2. Good Source of Vitamins: The usefulness of vitamins in the body cannot be overemphasized. Metabolism is a function of vitamins and thyme is a great source of vitamins, particularly vitamins A and C, to be precise.

3. Substitute for Salt: When substituting thyme for salt in food, one can help to reduce blood pressure and heart rate. CBD also has these calming properties naturally.

4. Skin Care: Immersion of thyme in alcohol yields a solution suitable for the treatment of the skin. This is especially effective as a treatment for acne. This is similar to how CBD tinctures are created and can be used as well.

In conclusion, it’s for these reasons, and the similarities between thyme and CBD that make thyme a natural choice for an addition to fine CBD oil. Added flavor and nutritional value, in addition to synergy with CBD’s natural healing properties make thyme a clear choice when selecting ingredients to boost CBD oil’s preexisting health benefits.

CBD Oil Vs. Alcohol

cbd vs alcohol CBD Oil Vs. Alcohol

CBD OIL VS. ALCOHOL

It’s no longer news that CBD oil is taking over the cannabis industry. This development is attributed to the numerous health benefits that come with its use. The product is scientifically proven to heal certain medical conditions, and its popularity continues to grow, largely due to its anti-inflammatory, anti-anxiety, and pain relieving properties.

The market for CBD oil and other CBD products is becoming highly competitive as manufacturers continue to introduce new CBD oil products to consumers. Due to this massive adoption, Forbes estimates CBD’s market to generate approximately 2.1 billion dollars by 2020. It’s little wonder then why hemp growers are striving hard to become licensed and tap into this pot of wealth.

Unfortunately, many people believe alcoholic beverages and CBD products are in the same vein. This is a considerable misconception that should be clarified. Although the two are both legal substances, they differ in terms of both functionality and usage. This article will take aim at discussing, and clarifying, the differences between the two substances. Also, we will take a look at some of the reasons why there might be a big switch from alcohol to CBD consumption in the future.

The alcohol industry may not be smiling at the sudden spike in demand for CBD products. This is because a massive switch from alcoholic to CBD products has been observed. Some folks are starting to adopt CBD products instead of alcohol, while some are in the business of mixing the two. As a result, big alcohol might soon suffer a large blow to their bottom line.

Let’s start by considering what’s wrong with alcohol.

So What Exactly is Wrong with Alcohol?

Everything! Wondering why?

Alcohol exposes consumers to several health risks. Regardless of whether a person takes it on a single occasion, or over time, it can take a severe toll on a person’s health by interfering with the brain, heart, liver, pancreas, and even the immune system.

Yes, consuming alcohol can weaken the immune system, thus exposing the body to various diseases. This trend is especially prevalent in chronic drinkers. This is why many end up suffering from health conditions such as tuberculosis or pneumonia.

There is no single positive effect that can be attributed to alcohol use. It might interest you to know that the amount of alcohol required to kill a person is easily accessible in one night. This means, even first-time drinkers stand a chance of dying. According to the National Health Institute in 2012, 5.9 percent of all global deaths are as a result of alcohol consumption. This means about 3.3 million deaths are credited to the use of alcohol.

Worse still, the danger isn’t necessarily over even if a person stops drinking. The danger that comes from alcohol withdrawal can, in some cases, be life-threatening. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimated a total of 88,000 deaths are caused by complications arising from alcohol withdrawal.

This is interesting because first a person exposes themselves to health risks while consuming alcohol. Then, just when they have decided to become sober and break off the addiction, they are exposed to further health risks. So, as you can see, one can easily say that just about everything is wrong with alcohol.

To better understand the differences that exist between the two, let’s take a look at a practical juxtaposition, shall we?

Let’s consider the adverse effects of both.

Negative Effects of CBD Vs. Alcohol

As previously established, consuming alcohol can be detrimental to your health. Some of the effects that accompany consumption of alcohol include dizziness, nausea & vommiting, mental impairment and, of course, the typical hangover often experienced hours after use.

Here’s a comprehensive list of how alcohol affects different parts of the body, and some of the conditions it can cause.

Brain

Consuming alcohol can interfere with the functionality of the brain by disrupting communication pathways. This is why you see some drunken folks acting weird after drinking alcohol. Brain disruption triggers changes in mood, behavior, and movement coordination.

Heart

Consuming a lot of alcohol can be detrimental to heart health. Whether taken for the first time, or over a long period. Some heart problems such as high blood pressure, stroke, irregular heartbeat (arrhythmia) and more are often evident from alcohol use.

hemp vs alcohol CBD Oil Vs. Alcohol

Pancreas

Pancreatitis, a critical inflammation of blood vessels, can arise as a result of ingesting alcohol over time. This is because alcohol releases toxins, which can cause this medical condition. Patients suffering from this ailment usually experience improper digestion.

Liver

By far the most prevalent health condition among alcohol consumers is liver disease. Alcohol deals mercilessly with the liver, especially in heavy drinkers. Some of the health problems encountered often include; alcoholic hepatitis, cirrhosis and fibrosis of the liver, and more.

Cancer

According to the National Cancer Institute’s Data in 2009, 3.9 percent of all cancer deaths in the US were alcohol-related. This means that about 19,500 people have died from some form of alcohol-related cancer. Some forms of cancer have been attributed to alcohol consumption, including; head and neck cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, and breast cancer.

People who consume at least three bottles of alcohol per day have a higher risk of developing these types of cancer.

Now let’s consider the negative side effects of CBD.

Based on scientific research, so far there are little or no adverse effects accredited to the use of CBD products. Some small scale studies have looked into the safety of CBD in adults. They did this by administering a wide range of doses to a set of adults. Results revealed that adults tolerated the differences in treatment well.

Additionally, further research shows that there are no significant effect on the Central Nervous System (CNS) or mood of CBD consumers, even when they take in higher doses.

The most common side effect was tiredness. Also, some people reported diarrhea and slight changes in appetite or weight. These effects are quite minimal and can quickly be dealt with compared to the adverse side effects observed in alcohol consumption.

We’ve now examined some of the conditions alcohol and CBD consumers often encounter. CBD appears to be far better off in this regard. Could this be the reason why many people are advocating a switch from alcohol to CBD oil and other CBD products?

Now let’s take a look at some of the positive effects of CBD and alcohol.

Positive Effects of CBD Vs. Alcohol

As stated earlier, CBD is scientifically proven to cure some medical conditions such as anxiety, chronic pain, seizures, nausea, and a host of other issues. For some there is even a tendency to believe that the product has more healing properties that are as of yet undiscovered. There are little or no adverse effects from CBD consumption, and as such, several states in the US have already authorized CBD for both medical and recreational use.

Since the inception of the Farm Bill in 2018, hemp cultivation and processing became legalized across all 50 states, and as such, all hemp-derived products including CBD are legal on a federal level.

Unlike alcohol, CBD has no intoxicating effects on consumers. It is not associated with misbehavior like sexual assault and domestic violence, nor does it cause adverse health conditions like liver toxicity, cancer, and other health conditions that can be attributed to the use of alcohol.

Interestingly, CBD can be used to treat “Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome”. Studies on animals show that CBD protects against some health issues that can arise during alcohol withdrawal. This makes CBD ideal when used for recovering from alcohol addiction.

It is also proven that CBD can help reduce tobacco and cigarette addiction as well. This is undoubtedly a huge benefit, as it can be used to fight against both alcoholism, and nicotine addiction.

Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, CBD can be of immense benefit in suppressing the inflammatory pain caused by alcohol. It is also scientifically proven that CBD may help in mitigating damage to the liver from previous alcohol abuse.

Now let’s do a proper and more insightful study into the benefits of CBD

Pain Relieving & Anti-Inflammatory Properties of CBD

CBD offers a better alternative to “over–the-counter” drugs and prescriptions for treating chronic pain or relieving stiffness.

pot vs alcohol CBD Oil Vs. Alcohol

Based on the information from a study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, CBD significantly reduced chronic inflammation and pain in some mice and rats.

The researchers concluded that the non-psychotropic elements in CBD could provide a new form of treatment for chronic pain.

Quitting Smoking and Drug Withdrawals

CBD is scientifically proven to help smokers quit. According to a study published in Addictive Behaviors, smokers who vaped in CBD smoked fewer cigarettes than usual and also had no further craving for nicotine.

Another study published in Neurotherapeutics revealed CBD could be an effective treatment for people who have opioid addiction disorders.

Researchers have also noted that CBD reduced some symptoms associated with other substance use disorders. These included mood-related symptoms like pain, insomnia, and anxiety.

Although more research is necessary to ascertain these observations, the findings suggest that CBD may help to prevent or reduce withdrawal symptoms across the board.

Epilepsy

After careful research on the safety and effectiveness of CBD oil for treating epilepsy, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) approved the use of a CBD based product called Epidiolex as a therapy for two rare conditions characterized by epileptic seizures in 2018. These conditions include the following:

  1. Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), which is common in individuals between ages three and five. It also involves different varieties of seizures
  2. Dravet syndrome (a rare genetic condition prevalent in the first year of life and includes frequent, fever-related seizures).

In the United States, a licensed doctor can prescribe Epidiolex to treat the above conditions.

Neurological Symptoms and Disorders

According to a 2014 review, CBD possesses anti-seizure properties with a low risk of experiencing side effects common in people with epilepsy. Research also shows that CBD may also treat many complications linked to epilepsy, such as neuro-degeneration, neuronal injury, and psychiatric diseases.

Another study published in Current Pharmaceutical Design revealed that CBD might produce effects similar to those of certain anti-psychotic drugs. CBD may even provide a safe and effective treatment for schizophrenia patients. However, further research is necessary. There is still an ongoing study on the effects of CBD on various neuropsychiatric disorders.

Cancer

CBD may just be the right thing to help deal with and to fight cancer. According to a review published in the British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, there is evidence that suggests CBD might significantly help to prevent the spread of cancer. It was observed that CBD helps in suppressing the growth of cancer cells, and ultimately promotes their destruction.

Anxiety Disorders

According to a review from Neurotherapeutics, CBD may also help to reduce anxiety in people with certain related disorders.

The review suggested that CBD may reduce anxiety-related behaviors in people with conditions like obsessive-compulsive disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and general anxiety disorder

The authors also included a note of warning regarding current prescription treatments: “Current treatments for these disorders can lead to additional symptoms and side effects, which can cause some people to stop taking them.”

It’s worth noting that CBD does not have these effects.

Type-1 Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes arises from inflammation that occurs when the immune system attacks cells in the pancreas. In 2016, a paper presented in Lisbon, Portugal revealed that CBD might be the saving grace in fighting type 1 diabetes. By mitigating inflammation, CBD may delay the development of type 1 diabetes.

marijuana vs alcohol CBD Oil Vs. Alcohol

Furthermore, according to research published in 2016 by Clinical Hemorheology and Microcirculation, CBD could ease this kind inflammation which is present in the pancreas; could this be the first step to finding a CBD-based treatment for type-1 diabetes?

Acne

Acne is a common skin condition caused by inflammation of the sebaceous gland. CBD also shows promising potential to treat this medical condition due to its anti-inflammatory properties.

In 2014, a study by JCI said CBD helps to lower the production of sebum that leads to acne. Sebum is an oily substance, and its overproduction can cause acne.

Alzheimer’s Disease

According to research published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, it was observed that CBD prevented the development of a social recognition deficit in participants. Therefore, the researchers concluded that CBD could help in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease. This means patients could still be able to recognize the faces of people that they know.

Interestingly, this is the first evidence that CBD may slow down the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

Still not convinced CBD and alcohol are vastly different? Let’s consider the difference in usage.

CBD Usage Vs. Alcohol Usage

CBD and alcohol are both distinct in their usage as well. As you must have observed in previous subtopics and explanations, CBD cannot be regarded as a recreational drug. In fact, it is not viewed as one by law enforcement agencies and medical practitioners because the psychotropic effects do not exist. It uses are quite medicinal, and as such, most CBD consumers regard themselves as medicinal users.

Alcohol on the other hand, has no known medicinal advantages. One can therefore presume it’s purely a recreational drug. Of course, there is plenty of evidence to back this up, especially considering you typically find alcohol in recreational venues like bars, clubs and entertainment events. Most people won’t deny that the primary reason for its consumption is for recreational purposes. This is why it is commonly consumed at social events, because it makes people feel less inhibited and ultimately makes the gathering quite entertaining.

Now Let’s take a look at the difference in legality.

CBD Legality Vs. Alcohol Legality

There are common misconceptions about the legality of CBD in some areas, unlike alcohol which is legal almost everywhere across the globe.

At the Federal level, CBD is legal in all 50 states of the US, so long as it is manufactured from hemp, and it contains no more than 0.3% THC. However, some state laws regulate the use of CBD, while some others ban it altogether. Those states often regard marijuana as any substance containing CBD or THC. Since marijuana is generally still illegal in many states, save for medicinal purposes in some, the use of CBD in those states is unauthorized.

There is little to no misconception, however, as to the legality of alcohol across the country. Alcohol is legal in all the 50 states of the United States except for a few counties that have decided to ban the use of alcohol on certain days, or have banned the sale of it entirely.

Finally, let’s consider the differences the addictive qualities of both substances.

CBD Vs. Alcohol Addiction

Is it possible to get addicted to CBD? To answer this question, one must understand how addiction works and what exactly triggers addiction.

Addiction is primarily caused by the release of excess dopamine into the brain’s pleasure center. Every addictive substance is known to release about two to ten times the naturally required amount of dopamine.

Fortunately, CBD does not release excess dopamine when consumed. Therefore, you cannot get addicted to CBD, no matter how much you consume. Instead, CBD aids the balancing of neurotransmitters in the brain. This means if there’s a high level of a neurotransmitter, CBD lowers it and vice versa.

Alcohol, on the other hand, releases quite a lot of dopamine into the brain’s reward center. Dopamine causes an alteration in brain chemicals, which enhances the feelings of depression. By increasing the dopamine levels in the brain, alcohol tricks consumers into thinking that it’s making them feel great. This is why consumers keep drinking and drinking to get more dopamine release, but at the same time altering other brain chemicals that enhance feelings of depression. Ultimately, consumers crave for more thus becoming addicted.

So, what do you think? Would you consider settling for CBD instead of alcohol?

Benefits of CBD Oil When Used with THC

CBD is a non-psychotropic cannabinoid that is found in the hemp plant. That means it does not cause the high feeling that is associated with cannabis. Many patients have reported an alert effect after using CBD. As such, it’s important to be careful not to use it in high amounts when nearing bedtime.

Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC, on the other hand, is a psychotropic cannabinoid. That means it is responsible for the high feeling that is associated with cannabis. When ingested, THC stimulates the brain, leading to dopamine release. Once released, dopamine creates a sense of wellbeing and euphoria. It also creates a relaxed feeling in the user.

CBD graduates THC effects while reducing its side effects that are associated with psychosis. This gives the user a more pleasant experience while enhancing relaxation. For instance, when CBD and THC are used together, they enable the user to sleep better unlike when they use prescription drugs.

Benefits of THC

Studies have shown that THC has numerous therapeutic applications including improving the symptoms of depression, nausea, insomnia, appetite loss, as well as moderate and mild pain. The pre-clinical trials done by the FDA recently suggested that THC reduces neuropathy onset in patients that suffer from this condition. Neuropathy refers to nerve pain or nerves degeneration. Another study conducted by the International Association for Cannabinoid Medicine revealed that THC is beneficial for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder’s therapeutic aid. The study attributed the effect of THC on PTSD to the brain’s CB1 receptors. THC stimulates these receptors thereby playing a crucial role in the elimination of adverse memories that are at the center of PTSD.

Generally, THC is a strong pain killer and an anti-inflammatory agent. Research has shown that it reduces brain’s amyloid plaques that cause Alzheimer’s severe condition. Pre-clinical trials have also shown that THC reduces vascular endothelia’s growth factor levels in glioma cells or brain cancer cells. This reduction is very important because it means tumors that result from brain cancer cannot grow new blood vessels that are necessary for their sustenance, growth and eventual spreading. This discovery is important because it gives hope for effective brain cancer therapeutic aid.

Studies have also shown that THC is an effective antispasmodic, muscle relaxant, bronchodilator, powerful antioxidant, and neuro-protectant. Its anti-inflammatory power is twice the anti-inflammatory power of hydrocortisone and 20 times more than that of aspirin.

Benefits of CBD

Studies have shown that CBD has numerous therapeutic benefits just like THC. CBD may help with the chronic pain that is caused by muscle convulsions, inflammation, and muscle spasticity. This pain is commonly experienced by people that suffer from epilepsy, fibromyalgia, and multiple sclerosis. Additionally, CBD has been proven effective in helping people that suffer from anxiety.

A recent study by Temple University revealed that CBD can be used as a strong preventative medication for chemotherapy-induced neuropathy. This is a side effect that is caused by some chemotherapy drugs.

Many scientists know CBD for its ability to counterbalance tachycardia or rapid heartbeat, anxiety, sedation, and hunger that are caused by THC as well as its effective control of epilepsy. Studies have also suggested that CBD can be used to address conditions that are difficult to manage including rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, cancer, anti-biotic resistant infections, neurological disorders, and alcoholism.

Research has shown that CBD has strong anti-convulsant, anxiolytic, anti-emetic, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-psychotic, and anti-depressant properties. The most exciting properties of CBD are its anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and anti-oxidant properties. That’s because when these properties are combined, they enable it to potentially relieve Parkinson’s severe condition, Alzheimer’s severe condition, and neurodegenerative-related severe conditions. Studies have also shown that CBD helps in the regulation of blood pressure. It is also cytotoxic to some cancer cells such as cells that cause breast cancer and it helps in the protection of healthy cells.

Benefits of using CBD and THC together

Studies have shown that CBD and THC have a synergistic effect. That means when a person has both in the body at therapeutic levels, their effects are more than when each is used alone. For instance, when CBD and THC are present in the body, the THC-therapy effect is prolonged by the inhibition of the breakdown of THC by the liver. Thus, CBD inhibits the breakdown of THC by the liver enabling THC effects to persist longer. When CBD’s applicable amounts of more than 4% are ingested with THC, CBD reduces psycho activity that is normally experienced by many patients due to THC.

Currently, studies are being conducted at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco and they are showing that when both CBD and THC are injected into the brain and breast tumors, they can eliminate them completely within 30 days.

The Entourage Effect

When CBD and THC are used together, they create the entourage effect. That means they play off each other while improving the desirable effects of each. For instance, studies have shown that using both CBD and THC improves the therapeutic aid of multiple ailments such as cancer. More implications of both CBD and THC have shown that the two cannabinoids work better when used together as medicine.

Today, the entourage effect of THC and CBD has significant and real implications for people that want to use the cannabinoids as medicine. That’s because using THC alone induces paranoid and uncomfortable effects when a person feels high. But, when THC is used together with CBD, CBD regulates THC effects. Thus, it protects the brain against the adverse effects of THC. Nevertheless, you must find the right ratio of THC/CBD to benefit from their entourage effect.

How CBD and THC Work

THC and CBD have many benefits to the human body due to the fact that they are active pharmacological compounds that mimic the natural endocannabinoids that are produced by the body. These endocannabinoids maintain a critical balance in the biological functions such as appetite, the immune system, sleep, and pain among others. When this balance is disrupted, the body gets into a stressed state. Endocannabinoids move in to fix this problem. CBD and THC mimic the natural endocannabinoids. Therefore, they are effective in enabling the body to manage a crisis while restoring balance after trauma if the natural endocannabinoids can’t restore it alone. THC and CBD work with the endocannabinoid system to control inflammation, pain, and many other conditions.
